Earlier this month, he became a father for the second time. 

And in a new interview, Aston Merrygold discussed the ‘euphoric’ birth of son Macaulay Shay and insisted he wants to marry fiancée Sarah Lou Richards ‘sooner rather than later.’

The JLS star, 32, and his partner – who are also parents to Grayson Jax, two – touched on the rollercoaster of the first fews weeks of raising two children under the age of two, and opened up about the possibility of expanding their family further.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Ashton admitted he cried following Macauley’s birth, saying: ‘I was a mess!’

He also tried to explain the feeling of discovering their newborn was a boy, admitting: ‘You can say it’s amazing or euphoric, but it’s more than that. You are seeing life being born.’

Aston said the decision to not find out the sex of their baby in advance gave them ‘an extra surprise,’ adding: ‘You can’t buy those feelings, it’s priceless.’  

Sarah admitted that baby Macauley ‘might have a bit of colic’ but that they’re dealing with it as well as they can.

Euphoric! Aston tried to explain the feeling of discovering their newborn was a boy, admitting: ‘You can say it’s amazing or euphoric, but it’s more than that. You are seeing life being born’ 

Explaining how she feels having welcomed her second child, Sarah touched on what her body has been through combined with hormones and the ‘guilt’ she feels having to focus more attention on Macauley than Grayson.

She said: ‘It has been up and down… I’m out the other side but it definitely took longer to feel good this time – that’s probably down to having a two-year-old as well.’  

Asked if they’re considering having more children, Sarah said: ‘never say never,’ while Aston added: ‘Two is good!’

The engaged couple also insisted that they are very keen to get married as soon as it’s practicable.

Aston said: ‘We would love to do it sooner rather than later,’ while Sarah said: ‘As soon as we are allowed to get something booked in, we’ll do it!’

Earlier this month, Aston and fiancée Sarah Lou shared the first photo of their newborn son, three days after becoming parents for a second time. 

In the black-and-white image shared to his Instagram account, the singer appeared on cloud nine as he and his partner kissed his eldest child while cradling the latest addition to the family.

The new father-of-two wrote: ‘I thought life was complete on January 30th 2018.. but June 5th 2020 3 just became a perfect 4!’ [sic]  

Grayson, who was showered with affection from his parents, was every inch the proud older brother as he looked on at his new sibling. 

It came days after the musician announced the birth of Macaulay with a picture of his baby boy holding onto his and Sarah’s fingers.

The Beat Again hitmaker penned: ‘Macaulay Shay Merrygold 12:52pm 5/6/2020.’
