PSG star Mbappe sent Liverpool transfer message

Liverpool legend Bruce Grobbelaar has warned Kylian Mbappe that he would face stiff competition in trying to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.

Mbappe has been linked with a move to Anfield on a number of occasions this year amid doubts over his long-term future in the French capital with Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite his scintillating form for both club and country in recent seasons, Grobbelaar believes that he could struggle to find a starting place in the Liverpool team with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino to contend with.

“Well, if he comes to Anfield he’s going to have to prove his worth up front for sure. And that’s only if and when he comes,” Grobbelaar told Stats Perform News, cited by Goal .

“We do not know what the circumstances is. It will be up to Klopp and FSG who will reveal something probably in the new season.

“But whoever comes to Anfield, as you see with [Takumi] Minamino, he’s going to have to improve a hell of a lot more to get into the side.”

Celtic star jealous of Robertson’s title celebrations with Liverpool

Celtic defender Greg Taylor says that he is envious of fellow Scot Andy Robertson after the Reds won the Premier League last Thursday.

However, Taylor was jealous of the fact that Robertson was able to celebrate the club’s title win with his teammates whereas the Celtic defender was unable to do so with his squad and instead did it virtually.

“Seeing them have that moment together, it did make me feel like that,” Taylor admitted . “We have still not actually been able to do that so there is a wee bit of jealousy.

“We were delighted to get nine in a row and it’s a massive achievement for the club but it would have been nice to celebrate it in front of the fans or just have that moment as a team.

“I texted [Andy] this morning to say well done and what a season. He got back to me after training to say thanks very much, top man. So, it was brief.”

Gerrard favourite returns to Liverpool backroom staff

Former club physio Chris Morgan will rejoin Liverpool for the next Premier League season when he leaves Arsenal at the end of his current contract.

Morgan had been part of Liverpool’s backroom staff for 10 years in which he progressed to become head physio before leaving for North London. He has previously worked with current Reds players such as Jordan Henderson and James Milner who are believed to be big fans of Morgan.

Steven Gerrard, too, has previously paid tribute to the physio who was a big part of the former Liverpool captain returning from injury.

“He was initially the reserve team physio, doing bits and pieces with the main squad, but Chris was so good at his job that, more and more often, I went to him whenever I felt a niggle or was worried about a more serious problem,” said Gerrard in his autobiography, My Story.

“He helped save my career a couple of times and, at the last lowest point, when I thought it really was all over in 2011, Chris and our club doctor, Zaf Iqbal, took me to meet Steve Peters, the psychiatrist who went on to do so much for me during the last three-and-a-half years of my career at Liverpool.”
