Leeds United vs Luton Town LIVE: updates from Elland Road as Hernandez remains on bench

It’s top versus second from bottom in the Championship this evening

Leeds United welcome Luton Town to Elland Road on the back of a comfortable 3-0 win over Fulham last time out – a result which moved them three points clear at the top of the table.

The Whites will be favourites to make it back-to-back home wins, although the Hatters are on a run of five games without defeat and go into the game having beaten Swansea City at the weekend.

As things stand, everything is in Marcelo Bielsa side’s hands to seal a return to the Premier League after a long absence and a win today would be a huge boost.

And Beren Cross is inside the sparsely-populated stadium for LeedsLive and you can follow all the action live right here.

Drinks break

We have reached the first drinks break of the evening. This will offer Marcelo Bielsa and Nathan Jones the chance to get their thoughts across to their players.

Luton chance

A brief spell of pressure from Luton, as Ilan Meslier has to make a save from a header from a corner. Set-pieces could be Luton’s way to goal this evening.

Leeds upping the ante

First, Tyler Roberts’ attempted pass across the six yard box is cut out before Helder Costa fires over the crossbar.

Leeds are finding their feet again after a shaky few minutes.

Roberts goes close!

Lovely movement for Leeds United, there. Stuart Dallas plays a lovely ball into Tyler Roberts’ path, who turns, unleashes a shot from a tight angle and fires it just over the bar. It would have been a lovely goal.

Whites finding their feet again

After having to soak up a little bit of Luton pressure whilst they were temporarily down to 10 men, Leeds are beginning to dictate possession again. They haven’t troubled Sluga in the Hatters’ goal since Bamford’s early chance, though.

Leeds substitution

Gaetano Berardi enters the fray for Leeds United, replacing Liam Cooper. He slots straight into the defence alongside Ben White.

Back underway

The contest is back underway, but Liam Cooper’s evening appears to be over. A massive, massive blow for Marcelo Bielsa.

Gaetano Berardi is ready and stripped to come on.

‘7George Smith

Liam Cooper down

A potentially early blow for the Whites here. Liam Cooper is down on the deck, holding his back and receiving treatment from the Leeds medical staff.

And another for Brentford…

Bamford chance

Patrick Bamford makes a great run to latch onto Tyler Roberts’ clever pass, gets a shot off but it is quickly charged down by the Hatters goalkeeper for a corner, which has come to nothing.

Beren Cross

Kick-off imminent

As expected with the United team, but surprised to see what Luton have done with the likes of Izzy Brown on the bench. We’ll see. Nathan Jones picking his battles perhaps. James Collins too.

Late Luton change

A late change for Luton, where Glen Rae has been injured in the warm-up. Martin Cranie comes into the side, with Jacob Butterfield taking his place on the bench.

Fulham drawing at half-time

Fulham went a goal down in the first minute at QPR, but have pulled it back and it’s all square at half-time.

Brentford leading

Brentford are leading at Reading, as they kick-off the second half.

If the Bees hold on, they would move to within five points of Leeds ahead of kick-off.
